(Sauk Village, Illinois –)  James A. Brucato and Mark E. Augustyn, owners of Principle Construction Corp., announced that a groundbreaking ceremony was held Thursday, April 28, 2016 for a 348,000 square foot expansion to the existing 267,000 square foot facility occupied by Winpak Portion Packaging, Inc. at 1111 Winpak Way in Sauk Village, Illinois.

Winpak Portions Packaging, Inc. broke ground on its first building on the site in summer 2011 and is expanding to more than double its manufacturing, office and warehouse space. The new expansion will include a 197,000 square foot warehouse, 137,950 square foot production plant area, an amenity area, maintenance storage, break room, washrooms, mechanical utility room, trucker’s room, shipping office and a plant grinding room.  The building’s exterior will add a second rail spur, 12 storage silo’s, two new 4000 amp electrical services, 150 parking stalls, 25 trailer stalls, 20 truck dock loading doors, and an exterior drive-in door. Several new, one-hour rated openings between the old and new plants will be provided.

In addition to constructing the new expansion to the facility, Principle will work on several renovations to the older facility, including developing about 15,000 square feet of new office space on the second floor, renovating the main lobby to accommodate new stairs and an elevator to the second floor and renovating an existing area to create expanded production plant amenities such as enlarged locker rooms and training spaces. The team will also renovate existing maintenance shop offices and tool storage rooms.

Winpak Ltd., based in Winnipeg, Canada, manufactures and distributes high-quality packaging materials and related packaging machines. The Company’s products are used primarily for the protection of perishable foods, beverages and in health care applications. Winpak, part of a global packaging group, operates nine production facilities in Canada, the United States, and Mexico.
